Service Sales Representative
This sales role focuses on consultative HVAC service solutions, in-person proposals, and referral-based growth for Hoffman Mechanical Solutions customers.
The Service Sales Representative role is responsible for driving new service sales in a professional, customer-focused manner by identifying needs, presenting solutions, and generating a high rate of referral-based business for Hoffman Mechanical Solutions.
Driving Service Sales With Customer Focus
Service Sales Representatives build new business by understanding customer issues, proposing service solutions, and maintaining professionalism consistent with Hoffman Mechanical Solutions’ integrity and customer-care standards.
Essential Sales Duties And Responsibilities
This role combines in-person sales activity, structured presentations, strong follow-up, and internal coordination to ensure high-quality service installations and satisfied customers.
- Present in-person proposals at customer facilities.
- Perform sales presentations using approved company materials and methods as outlined in the company selling process.
- Educate potential customers on the value of Hoffman Mechanical Solutions’ service offerings.
- Refine communication skills and continuously improve customer satisfaction processes.
- Keep appointments with customers as scheduled.
- Participate in training as requested and needed, demonstrating learning retention and field-level application of new skills.
- Transfer all required information after each call, including photos, notes, and drawings, to clearly communicate jobs to operations for “perfect installation.”
- Complete required sales reporting and remain available to answer follow-up questions.
- Return to completed jobs for quality checks and to plant referral opportunities.
- Stay in contact with the office and work from the office when not in the field.
- Follow company procedures for generating referrals and participate in sales meetings.
- Represent the company in a professional manner consistent with HMS integrity and customer-care standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education And Experience
Service Sales Representatives typically bring strong sales experience and academic backgrounds that support technical and analytical selling in HVAC and related industries.
- Five or more years of experience in sales, preferably in HVAC, construction, or service.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering, math, or the sciences.

The role requires strong communication, organization, sales discipline, and the ability to build relationships and manage opportunities in fast-moving environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to think proactively and prioritize work.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, with a professional appearance.
- Mechanically inclined with a strong understanding of the psychology of sales.
- Solid organizational and sales pipeline management skills.

- Ability to work independently and with a team while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and good decision-making skills; well organized and a “go-getter.”
- Comfortable interacting with all levels of people, including all levels of clients.
- High energy with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel occasionally, including some overnight stays.
- Ability to successfully build relationships, including remotely, with strong people skills.
- Provides prompt solutions, highly responsive and delivers superior customer service to inquiries and requests.
- Ability to effectively use Excel, Word, Outlook, and basic computer tools, or learn them quickly.
- Ability to effectively lead small teams.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

- Proficiency with company-provided technology.
- Completeness and accuracy of sales documentation and paperwork.

Physical Demands And Work Environment
Service Sales Representatives regularly visit customer sites and must safely navigate commercial environments while performing visual inspections and limited physical tasks.
- Required to visually inspect all areas of customer sites, including use of step ladders and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Use of sight, touch, and hearing is required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and sense of touch.
- Proper PPE may be required in commercial environments, such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear plugs, safety vests, gloves, and occasionally respirators.
- Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
- Occasional exposure to dusty and confined areas within commercial spaces for short periods of time.
- Occasional exposure to loud environments.
